The Ramadan Quran Club Is...

  • Revolutionary

This is not a memorization class or a tafseer only class. It's a shared journey the teacher and students take towards reflecting and engaging with Allah's words, while using a wide variety of tools.

  • Inspiring

Students will be amazed and inspired by the beauty, power, and force of the Quran. We dive into the language and themes of the Quran to kindle the fire of inspiration.

  • Multisensory

Hand signs. Art. Mind Maps. Poetry. These are some of the ways that students learn to engage with the meanings of the Quran. The different engagement styles create different pathways for understanding and connecting with the Quran.

Our Approach

Ramadan is the month of the Quran, but how do we bring this concept to life for our children?

The Ramadan Quran Club places the relationship with the Quran as front and center for young Muslims who may struggle with understanding and connecting with the Quran.

For too many students, the Quran is only a book of foreign words, designed to be memorized and recited without understanding.

The Ramadan Quran Club takes students by the hand and says, "Come, let us enjoy Allah's message together."

The Ramadan Quran Club brings students from all over the world together, face-to-face in a virtual classroom to engage in discussion and activities all leading to one main goal:

to love and cherish the Book of Allah.

This is our ultimate goal as Muslims, and too often we lose sight of it.

Every activity we do together in the Ramadan Quran Club is built upon this goal.

This Year's Theme: Surah Yaseen

This is a surah that is incredibly close to the hearts of so many. In this class, your children will be able to discover the wisdom of this surah. Some of the central themes of this surah are:

  • The messengers & their warnings
  • The belief that Allah will bring us to life after death
  • Allah's lordship

Through discussion, Quran journaling, mind-maps, calligraphy, and other activities, we'll explore these themes together. Students will develop a richer appreciation for the Surah over the five weeks.

Mind Mapping

Students love mind-mapping. "It's so satisfying!" remarked one student after noticing connections between al-Fatihah and al-Baqarah. Mapping out the concepts and discovering the relationship between verses and surahs is an exciting way to "see" the verses in a new light. One year, we worked through the first part of Surah Taha in class and observed the connections between each of the verses. This year we'll use this tool for Surah Yaseen.

Loving the Quran

In the Quran Club, students share with each other their love and excitement for the Quran. Fatima shared this beautiful poem, amazing everyone in the class:

In one class, I asked the students, "What does the Quran mean to you?" These were their beautiful responses:

Sources for the Class

We use trusted classical and contemporary tafseer in Arabic as the source material for the class. We pull from these tafseer texts points that can be adapted into topics of discussion for the students. Sources include:

  • Tafseer ibn Katheer
  • Tayseer al-Kareem al-Mannan by as-Sa'dee
  • Adwaa'-ul-Bayaan by ash-Shanqeeti

What Parents Are Saying...

Angie Umm Sumayyah

We Were All Inspired!

Angie Umm Sumayyah

"Most of the students in this class are already in some sort of Qur'an memorization/reading/tajwīd class. However, connecting to the Qur'an through journaling and art is not generally covered in those settings and that is where this class filled that void. Although the memorization is intrinsically valuable and absolutely necessary, I would argue that the connection and application are equally as valuable. This club was a beautiful connection for visual and kinesthetic learners especially as they learned how to use that inspiration to further their connection to the book of Allah (swt). The Qur'an mind maps, journaling, and adding that creative element were a perfect fit for our family. We were all inspired and...participated in the beautiful art projects after her class was over. Our family definitely collectively enjoyed the benefits of this class!"

Hands on, Thought Provoking

Qanita

"I am truly grateful to Allah (swt) for Merium's mentorship. My children truly enjoyed her hands-on, thought-provoking sessions. Merium's teachings extended beyond the weekly classes as she empowers children with skills and motivation that they use independently even outside of class...Merium gently guides children to fall in love with the Qur'an, ponder over Allah swt's words, and most importantly, she taught my children to actively engage with every ayah in the Qur'an."
